Apparently there’s a food crisis happening in the world. I’ve spoken about it before . Its a pretty hard thing to contemplate here in Australia. Although last time I did my shopping it cost me about $200, gone are the days when it was $130.
I despair, really I do. How can it be that we have so much and there are those in the world who have so little. I’m very comfortable, thanks very much. We have so much food at my place that I buy stuff to feed the guinea pig, and it too is fat.
So, what’s the solution. There are hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people, about to starve because they can’t afford the food. For whatever reason that is never really explained, the cost of staples in some places has more than doubled in the last year, leaving many poor families unable to buy it. The solution of George W Bush, throw money at it. Like you can eat that. No, but wait, what you can do is use that money to give to someone else who will then, in exchange, give you some rice. So, the people who have plenty want more money to ‘sell’ to the people who have no food. You bastards. You fucking bastards. They don’t need money, they need food, and it might mean you have to give it up without them paying for it. And we’re not talking about some stingy farmers here, we’re talking about huge corporations who’s only purpose is to make money. Go on, make your money, but for crying out loud, stop driving the prices up to line your own pockets, its selfish and mean spirit, and when people start dying and fighting for the right to eat it’ll be you that’s to blame.
Didn’t your mother ever teach you to share?
