Look, this is really local, small town politics.
This Llama spent some time in Hamilton, Victoria, Australia. It’s a quaint small city way out west. Malcolm Fraser, former Australian Prime Minister hails from that area.
Bruach is standing for the local council, Southern Grampians Shire. It seems he tried his hand at an engineering course, but didn’t complete it, and instead changed his studies to theology. I guess it was easier.
He calls that part of the world, god’s own. I don’t know why it would be considered god’s own. It’s nice I guess, but why god would take a special interest in sheep, grass and the good folk of Hamilton town is beyond me.
Have a read of his letter to the editor of the local paper, he’s certainly an eager young man and I’ll watch the election with more interest than that going on in the US!
Just when I think the world might be changing, and those born in the 80’s are a little smarter, along comes this backward notion that god somehow is relevant to us. That it’s important to do good works in his name, that you should make a ‘mission’ to Africa to show them how to build houses, or work within a church to help the young kiddies.
If I had a vote in Hamilton, I would write “Jesus couldn’t save Hamilton” across the ballot paper.
