The American Humanist Association is paying $40,000 to put some signs on buses in Washington DC and also run some ads in newpapers. The ads ask “why believe in god?” and suggest that you just be good for goodness sake. I don’t have a problem with that concept. In fact anything that gets god out of Christmas is a bonus in my book. I don’t think spending any money on it is a good idea, that money could well be spent on helping someone who really needs it, that’s a great way to be good!
Having said that though, with all the money being spent by churches on spreading their virus, it is but a drop in the ocean.
No surprisingly, the christians are up in arms about it! Have a look at the video, you have to wonder just what Bill Donehue is so upset about. It’s a good message, its more or less saying why don’t you just be good, for goodness sake. What’s so wrong about that. Before you know it, there’s an agenda and a suggestion that the Humanist society has no right to express that point of view.
