On the radio, the announcer asked a young student at a local lutheran college in Toowoomba his thoughts on marriage equality.
“I am all for gay marriage and civil unions. I think there is nothing wrong with it,” he said.
However, the Australian Evangelical Lutheran Church couldn’t help themselves and just had to place an ad in the local paper that said this:
While the Evangelical Lutheran Church is not affiliated with Concordia College, it nevertheless emphatically states that on the basis of Holy Scripture, homosexuality is to be opposed, and warns that any who continue in this practice are in danger of losing salvation
This is your loving response? Â You oppose gay people and then threaten them with eternal damnation and pretend that you’re only doing it because your holy scripture says so? Â Imagine a young person, going to that church, unaware 
of his developing sexuality and hearing that. Â What message does that plant in the mind of the child as he grows up? Â What if they grow up and happen to be gay?
I blame the likes of Katter, Madden and something called The Sensible Man for this, read my blog on those crusaders of all things bigoted.  They are responsible for giving people like the evangelical lutheran church permission to say such things out loud.  It’s also their actions of late that gives people permission to spray the words “Gay nigger loving party” over the shop front of  MP Curtis Pitt in far north Queensland.
Queensland is fucked.
