At the Institute for Creation Research in northwest Dallas, a group of nine Ph.D.s from places like Harvard and Los Alamos National Laboratory say all that molecules-to-man stuff is nonsense. And they’re out to prove it.

The biblical story of Genesis is literally true, they say. God created the heavens, earth and life in six sequential days lasting about 24 hours each.

OK, more christian need to prove that the bible is true, despite decades of evidence to the contrary!

The universe is not 13.8 billion years old (as astrophysicists calculate by measuring the rate of cosmic expansion), the earth is not 4.5 billion years old (as geologists conclude by using radioisotope dating on ancient rocks), and humans did not split from chimpanzees and gorillas about 4 million to 7 million years ago (as suggested by genetics and the fossil record).

As I said, despite the evidence.

“Our attempt is to demonstrate that the Bible is accurate, not just religiously authoritative,” said Henry Morris III, CEO of the nonprofit with a 49-person payroll and an annual budget in the $7 million range.

How much?  $7mil a year, say it takes them 10 years.  Serious amount of money that someone is throwing at the concept.  You can buy a 20kg bag of rice for about $150.  Imagine how many bags you could buy over 10 years. (At least 460,000) Could feed lots of people!  But oh no, makes much more sense to plough your money into stupid projects that the rest of the world is laughing about.

“The rationale behind it is this: If God really does exist, he shouldn’t be lying to us,” he said. “And if he’s lying to us right off the bat in the book of Genesis, we’ve got some real problems.”

What?  If god is lying we’ve got some real problems?  We have real problems, the planet is heating up, bees are dying, people are starving.

If god really exist, rice wouldn’t cost so much.

Hockey hates the poor! http://www.brucellama.com/2012/04/19/2748/ http://www.brucellama.com/2012/04/19/2748/#comments Wed, 18 Apr 2012 22:20:50 +0000 http://www.brucellama.com/?p=2748 [SOURCE]

So, would be Treasurer blasts our entitlement attitude.  Too much social welfare!

Arsehole.

It seems pretty clear to me that this is another swipe at those less able to fend for themselves, find a job, get a start in life, help in their old age, those with a disability and many other ways that we as a society look after each other.

He said a lower level of entitlement meant countries were free to allow business and individuals to be successful. ”It reduces taxation, meaning individuals spend less of their time working for the state, and more of their time working for themselves and their family.”

That’s right, kick those needing help in the guts so those earning lots can work less and spend more time with their families.  Fuck everyone else.

Perhaps he should have said a more equitable taxation system that allowed all citizens to live good and productive lives is what we should be aiming form.  Taking care of each other is how societies grown

Do people rip the system off?  You bet.  Whether its attempting to get more money from a government benefit or attempting to reduce the amount of personal income tax some people will always attempt to subvert the system for their own gain.  They are dishonest and selfish.  We need to create a society that actually does care about each other.

Hockey needs to address the imbalance, while they can’t control how much huge corporations pay their executives, they can control how much tax they pay.  Lets talk about that tax reform, so that we can get a balanced budget.

It’s way to easy to kick the people on low incomes than it is to pick on the big earners.

The True Meaning of Christmas http://www.brucellama.com/2011/12/26/the-true-meaning-of-christmas/ Sun, 25 Dec 2011 23:46:31 +0000 http://www.brucellama.com/?p=2495 [SOURCE]

Let us ask the Lord to help us see through the superficial glitter of this season, and to discover behind it the child in the stable in Bethlehem, so as to find true joy and true light.

So says the Supreme Pontiff (which sounds vaguely like some sort of pizza) as he sat there resplendent with his gold encrusted staff and sparkly vestments with their glittering stuff.  The old man has the gall to sit up on a stage and tell the rest of the world to look through the ‘superficial glitter’. He then goes on to say:

And let us also pray especially at this hour for all who have to celebrate Christmas in poverty, in suffering, as migrants, that a ray of God’s kindness may shine upon them, that they – and we – may be touched by the kindness that God chose to bring into the world through the birth of his Son in a stable. Amen.

He’s praying for the poor people.   He wants us to pray for those ‘who have to celebrate Christmas in poverty’.  The man has enough gold around him to feed the whole of the starving people in Africa and he wants to pray especially for them?  He wants God’s kindness to shine upon them.   He wants that kindness to touch them.  He sits surround by thousands of years of history, with immense wealth and the best he can do to alleviate the poverty in the world is ‘pray especially’.  The poor people would be happy with a bit of rice you arsehole.  They don’t want to be touched by the kindness of god, fuck the baby in the stable.  Give them some food.

At this time of the year, I say to you, as I have said many times, you can either pray or do something useful.

Church and gay saunas http://www.brucellama.com/2011/05/26/church-and-gay-saunas/ Wed, 25 May 2011 23:22:58 +0000 http://www.brucellama.com/?p=2057 [SOURCE]

So, there use to be this place in Melbourne called Steamworks,it was a sauna for the gays.  But it’s gone.

Now a church has bought the land and they’re going to develop it.

The Coptic Orthodox Church wants to erect a 42 storey tower, how excitement.

The new centre would provide a place of worship for its 18,000 followers and offer financial and spiritual support to the church’s mission in Fiji.

The planning application includes a 360-seat worship area, bookshop and soup kitchen. The building will also have 280 apartments.

And the going price to erect a 42 storey building in Melbourne for a church, a mere $80 million dollars.

I like the fact that it will offer financial and spiritual support, is that code for we’re going to make a stack of money out of this and also have a nice new church to pray for the poor in.  And who’s the 280 apartments for?  I bet it won’t be for the homeless, because then they’d say it was a 360 seat church, a bookshop, a soup kitchen and cheap accommodation for the homeless.

And where’s the 80 mill coming from?  Will they get a heap of concessions?  Will they be exempt from taxes and rates?

Churches that take up property development aren’t so focussed on the spiritual needs of the faithful.  Gone are the days of putting money in the plate for their good works.  The new way is to fleece you by charging rent under the pretence that the dough is going to a good cause.

It’s good to know that the magic priests will have a nice place to hang their dresses.

Chinese die for your Ipad http://www.brucellama.com/2011/05/10/chinese-die-for-your-ipad/ http://www.brucellama.com/2011/05/10/chinese-die-for-your-ipad/#comments Mon, 09 May 2011 23:54:51 +0000 http://www.brucellama.com/?p=2010 [SOURCE]

Last year I blogged about Foxconn.  They make Ipads for our consummation.  The workers in the Foxconn factory commit suicide.  They leap out of the buildings to kill themselves because of the way they are treated.  Foxconn’s response, wasn’t to make conditions better for the workers, it was to put nets up, probably so they don’t have to pay for the clean up.

A new report into conditions at Apple’s manufacturing partner, Foxconn, has found slave labour conditions remain, with staff complaining of being worked to tears, exposure to harmful disease, pay rates below those necessary to survive and military-style management that routinely humiliates workers.

Nothing’s changed in China.  And you know why?  Because we continue to demand low price gadgets at the expense of other people’s safety.  Because they’re so far away and we don’t know them it’s ok.  This kind of treatment would not be tolerated in Australia, and yet rather than boycott Ipads, or any other piece of technology, we buy, buy buy.  We continue to demand them and to satisfy the corporate greed, they continue to supply them at the great cost of human life.

Muehlenberg’s Folly http://www.brucellama.com/2011/05/07/muehlenberg%e2%80%99s-folly/ Sat, 07 May 2011 00:08:12 +0000 http://www.brucellama.com/?p=1991 [SOURCE]

I love William Mulehead.  He deserves some llama loving.  Like getting his big mule head and shoving it up an elephants arse.  Because, at times that’s just where his head seems to be.  That’d explain why he really can’t see anything, there’s too much elephant shit in his eyes, nose and throat.

He’s raving about Peter Singer, he doesn’t like Singer.  At all.  The Singer article he refers to in The Age is well worth a read and your consideration.

Old Mulehead has a problem because Singer wants to save the lives of 8 million children a year.  You can save those children by giving money.  It’s easy.

In the article he refers to the death of children due to poor drinking water, or lack of basic healthcare, saying, “You can help to stop these unnecessary deaths”. Yes a very worthy cause indeed. But his words ring absolutely hollow. I wait for the day when he says similar things about children still in the womb, or those newly born.

Children still in the womb?  Come on Bill, you know better than that.  And it’s the newly born that Singer is actually talking about.

He really should spare us these moral motions about a child’s life. Indeed, with 45 to 50 million unborn children killed each year by abortion – all with the full approval of Singer – these 8 million tragic childhood deaths almost seem to pale in comparison.

And there you have it folks.  Mulehead is more interested in foetuses that are aborted than children that are already alive. He simply dismisses the plight of 8 million children in favour of those that will never be. Just where will these extra 45 to 50 million ‘unborn children’ go if they were born?  Who will feed them?  There would be more death, more hunger, more rich people getting rich drinking bottled water and more poor people dying because they have no safe drinking water.

But the likes of die-hard radical selfish christians have no interest in those that are alive.  They deride them, tell them they’re sinners and that they’re going to hell.  They focus on the ‘unborn’ and ignore those here.  This is 8 million people that twats like Mulehead can help save, those that are hear right now.  He’d sooner ignore their plight and talk about those that will never be.  Good thing too – the last thing this world needs is crusty old men telling women to have babies.  Mulehead is extremely irresponsible and has an arrogant sense of morality built on fairy tales and lies.  What’s even worse is that he knows it and ignores the truth.

Bill Muehlenberg has the audacity to suggest that Peter Singer has twisted ethics.

Pot, kettle, black.

Iran and the Olympics. http://www.brucellama.com/2011/03/02/iran-and-the-olympics/ Wed, 02 Mar 2011 11:28:28 +0000 http://www.brucellama.com/?p=1857 [SOURCE]

Iran is threatening to boycott the Olympic Games in London in 2012.

Iran has threatened to boycott the London Olympics unless the organisers replace the official logo, which Tehran claims spells out the word “Zion”.

Yeah. So?

The logo, which cost £400,0001 to create, is a very stylised 2012.  Or Lisa Simpson giving some one a blowjob.  Or Zion if you come from Iran.

If you don’t want to come and play, why don’t you just say so.  Anyway, we don’t want you playing, so we’re going to come up with a way to piss you off.

If Iran is really that petty, then tell them to fuck off and stay at home.  Like the rest of us would care.  Every chance that Ahmadinejad gets he takes a side swipe at Israel and it’s supporters2.  Seems a little paranoid.

Now, I know that perhaps the people who are coming to the games don’t give a flying toast bucket about all of this, and it would be unfair to exclude them.  But, you know what.  We need to stop playing nicely with Iran.  This sort of stupidity has to stop.  Grow up and come play with everyone nicely or you won’t be allowed back into the sand pit until you can jolly well behave your self.

Image by Nigel Chadwick , via Wikimedia Commons

2012 or Zion?

Now on to more important things.  £400,00 for that thing?  Are you serious?  This is one of the many reasons I detest the Olympics.  There are people in the world who can’t afford dinner tomorrow, do you think we could get that right before we head off and spend a lot of money on a logo?  How much rice can that sort of money buy?

Games are fun, I’m sure, but let’s stop pissing the money against the wall and watching it flow down into the gutter.

Sainthood – here I come! http://www.brucellama.com/2010/10/17/sainthood-here-i-come/ http://www.brucellama.com/2010/10/17/sainthood-here-i-come/#comments Sun, 17 Oct 2010 01:32:01 +0000 http://www.brucellama.com/?p=1594 So, it’s finally here. Today. Australia gets its first saint. I can feel my furry chest swelling with great pride and emotion… no wait, that’s a build up of phlegm.

Mary Fucking MacKillop was a nun. She was trying to provide education to the poor. Perhaps she did it really well. I don’t know.

I don’t know just how worthy MFM1 is of all this rubbish about sainthood. For all I know she was a manipulative horrible nun that spent her time trying to further her own career and make her life more comfortable, or she was a genuine person out to help those less fortunate than herself. She may be a hero, I don’t know and I don’t care.

But… when toss pots like Cardinal Hell saying inane things like this:

“Australians overwhelmingly are good people, but we need to be reminded of the reality of the supernatural, of the importance of God, the reality of life after death, the importance of spiritual values,” he said. [SOURCE]

I have to respond.
Point 1: Australians are overwhelmingly good people… well duh. Most people are good, Australian or otherwise, we all understand we must have some empathy towards others to get on in life.
Point 2: We need to be reminded of the reality of the supernatural. Fuck you. Show us the supernatural, just because you can wear a dress doesn’t mean that there’s anything supernatural going on.
Point 3: Reality of life after death… wait on, what reality, when was the last time someone who had died actually communicated with you? Are you hearing voices?
Point 4: Importance of spiritual values… ummm, the what? Spiritual values? How are they determined, and by whom. Oh wait, you get to determine them.

This stupid devotion to dead people really has to stop. The evil Pope and his cohort Cardinal Hell are in Rome to say the magic words to make MFM a fucking saint. Thousands of people have gone to Rome to view the whole show, and a stage show it is. Meanwhile, people continue to starve, people continue to die from unnecessary disease and MFM and the rest of her saintly tribe sit at the right hand of god and do fucking nothing other than pick some poor random catholic who muttered their name a couple of times and heal them.

It’s horrible, really horrible. It’s about time we got on with helping the living and forgot about the dead, because, well, they’re dead, and can’t help anything or anyone any more.

Shame on all of you for wasting the earths valuable resources and ignoring the plight of so many people the world over just so you can sing the praises of dead people who would have much prefer you spent the money on actually doing something useful.

  1. MFM = Mary Fucking MacKillop

Politics and jesus – The ACL http://www.brucellama.com/2010/06/23/politics-and-jesus-the-acl/ Wed, 23 Jun 2010 03:22:00 +0000 http://www.brucellama.com/?p=1481 The ACL have been busy getting themselves organised for the upcoming election, Jim Wallace, the most upstanding and righteous person in Australia, closer to his god than even Archbishop Hell, organised to get KRudd and The Rabbit into the same space to talk about all things christian. It was a secret meeting, unless you paid the ACL $150 for the honour of seeing the broadcast, sent directly into your church.

It was all about making sure that the pollies knew to support christian ideals, you know, keep the poor poor, keep the gays hidden, keep the asylum seekers out, make sure you still open parliament with the lords prayer and other sectarian bullshit.

It was a real love fest, our glorious leaders letting the glorious christian leaders know that they are all on the same side, and fuck anyone that wasn’t christian, because we all know how important jesus and god are to Australia, fuck anyone that doesn’t believe, and fuck anyone who has belief in some other stupid retarded god, this is god we’re talking about, the one who gave his life for us, so the least the self appointed moral guardians of the world can do is ask the important questions of our pollies.

I like An Onymous Lefty’s take on the story, it’s well worth a read:

And everytime somebody criticises George Pell or doesn’t give him what he wants, an angel dies

Here was an ideal opportunity for Krudd and The Rabbit to ask some tough questions of the ‘esteemed’ religious leaders present, they need to ask these questions:

  1. What is your church doing to ensure that none of it’s employees have an opportunity to sexual or physically abuse or rape its members?
  2. How is your church assisting and compensating those who have been raped by your kiddie fuckers?
  3. Has your church ensured that all those suspected or guilty of rape have been investigated by an independent authority, like the Police?
  4. How will your church ensure that it truly helps the poor of the nation
  5. How will your church continue to fund itself when we remove your tax exempt status?
  6. What plans do you have in place to treat all Australians as equals so that gay and lesbian citizens have the same employment rights as other staff

And what about the rest of us. Now that Krudd and The Rabbit have been along to a religious meeting, how about fronting up to something secular, addressing those of us, and there is rather a lot, that have no believe in fanciful tales of an afterlife or supermen flying around the cosmos picking on homosexuals or Greens. What would be the questions we’d ask? How will you pander to our requirements that there be a true separation of church and state? Why must we be subjected to rules and laws created to meet the needs and requirements of the faithful while our needs are set aside?
